MG TD TF 1500 - Identification plates - different to most!
These are the identification badges on an Irish CKD (built in market to avoid taxes) TF which I am in the middle of restoring. The bottom patent badge appears to be made of a different material to most. Others I have seen are black and silver like the top 2 badges. ![]() |

Hi Dave didn't realise the pic was sideways yes the one I am refering to as bottom is the right hand one. Neville Mann confirms that the patent plate was made of brass and painted black....no black left on mine. Any way of restoring these..boot polish? |

Paul, How did you paint yours? All my black is gone. Thanks |

Paul, How did you paint yours? All my black is gone. Thanks Strange as it might seem, the painted area is original. The brass was very tarnished and almost black in appearance, but gently rubbing it on a sheet of 600 emery laid on a glass plate, a little cleaning of the painted area and it came up as shown. I did spray it with clear lacquer. The plate under the tool box lid was in the same condition. PJ |

"How did you paint yours? All my black is gone." See the link I posted above. Look at the bottom of the page for instructions on how to restore your plates. |
