What is written on the face of your lock, or better yet, post a picture.
Christopher Couper

There is someone on E Bay selling older British car keys made up for the key number you want. Some are even available on the original Wilmot Breeden blanks. Search for British car keys in E Bay Motors. You will need the key number usually on the face of the ignition lock barrel.
John Quilter (TD8986)

Moss has them and look pretty good with the MG Octo, but they are $8.00.

Les, as Lonnie said, I'd suggest contacting Pete Groh at http://britishcarkeys.com . Give him the code stamped onto the barrel of the lock, something like 'FA123'. He does good, fast, inexpensive work. Bud

We really need a picture. I suspect your lock is not any standard WB/Union lock. A picture, even of the lock face, could probably solve all of this speculation and possibly great, but irrelevant advice for your situation.
Christopher Couper

Les what's the build date of your car? TD or TF? Also agree a pic of the switch is the place to start. That number doesn't correspond with any original MRN (TC & early TD) or FA (TD) series that are correct for the TD & the TF. The FS series with the window in the bezel is a later replacement. Chris is correct about your lock. It isn't an original Lucas Wilmot Breeden. I've recently purchased some original NOS Wilmot Breeden Union MRN blanks on Ebay from New Zealand & had them cut to code by a local specialist automotive locksmith. This now completes the three MRN PLC 6 switches I've just finished restoring. Cheers

Les, are you still on King Arthur? I don't usually cross the Canal 'twixt Memorial Day and Labor Day, but I may venture a run down there this morning. Check your email. Bud

Wish me luck. I'm heading to Les' house on Cape Cod. That means crossing the Sagamore Bridge on a summer weekend. Bud
Bud Krueger

Bud: You will have to give us the back story on why this is an 'adventure' for those on the left (and other) coast.
Christopher Couper

Okay, I'm back. Let me answer a few of the questions. First, about the ignition key. Peter might be interested in this. The stamping on the face of the cylinder is FP 674. It has a rotating window that seemed to say HEAD, SIDE and OFF. Les can check those details . The car is TD20774, Engine 21103. A 'barn find' that wasn't rusted. I recall seeing the car when its owner first acted to sell it after a bunch of years.

Next, for Chris -- Les lives in Osterville, a town on Cape Cod. Cape Cod is a notorious summer vacation spot that draws a monstrous crowd. Cape Cod is separated from the Massachusetts mainland by the Cape Cod Canal. Other than a railroad bridge, there are only two 4-lane bridges over the canal. Thousands of cars full of people are coming, or going, on any particular summer day, especially on weekends, e.g., Saturday. We, on this side of the Canal, generally vow not to cross the bridges between Memorial Day and Labor Day, except in an emergency, or on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Today was a Saturday. The 37 miles to Les' took me about 2 hours, more than half of which was for the second quarter of the trip. Read the message on the message board sign. Yes, it says 7 miles/53 minutes to the Sagamore Bridge. Bud

Triple C made a couple keys for me, nice MG logo clothes also. George

Bud, go over to I-95, turn left, go to Richmond/Petersburg, pick up I-85, turn right at Gaffney onto Hwy 11, go to hwy 14, turn left, go 1.8 miles, turn at the driveway BEFORE Lister Rod, the beer is cold and I'll show you some very enjoyable T-type mountain driving. Jud

Ouch. Never got past 2nd gear? Anything left of the clutch?

Reminds me of my 2nd of July escape from San Francisco in the afternoon. Took me 1 1/2 hours to go 5 blocks in town and then another 3 1/2 hours to travel 125 miles. The last 25 miles were at the speed limit. These were interstates basically.
Christopher Couper

Actually, Chris, Lazarus can idle along in 1st or 2nd gear. Only time I have to feather it is when I'm in a parade behind walkers. Also, happy to say that the water temp never even reached 85°C. Thanks Butch. Bud
Bud Krueger

The FP series wasn't used on T Types. TD 20774 would have had an FA series lock in a Lucas PLC 6 without the window & a Wilmot Breeden Union key originally. If you're not concerned about any of that the suppliers mentioned above can supply a key. Cheers

The car has had a variety of modifications. It does still have the original engine. I was asked to evaluate the car a number of years ago when it was somewhat in pieces. The key that the seller gave to Les looks like a W-B key. I'd never seen that degree of lettering under the window in the slot. Bud
