MG TD TF 1500 - Inner pinion race install

Anybody have a secret way of installing the inner pinion bearing race. I'm trying to reinstall mine after a thorough inspection and can seem to get it started. The housing has been baking in the sun and I've even tried freezing the race but no joy. I tried using a pair bearing/ seal drivers with a bolt to pull it through but it doesn't seem to want to start. Ive lubricated the faces with gear oil also with no joy I've checked for burrs on the housings machines surface and find none. It was very difficult coming out as I remember but I didn't have this problem on a previous overhaul in another housing. When frozen it simply fell into place

Hello Bill. I made one like Carl has in his book. It does both inner and outer races at the same time. If you had a difficult time getting it out, did you use a punch, hitting each side alternately? If so carefully look for burrs from the punch. But the real trick is that has to be held perpendicular to the bore, other wise it's a no go!

Had similar problem. X2 what Butch says. Also make sure bearing outer race hasn't cocked and gouged the housing bore slightly. Had to polish mine up as bit before pulling it together with the tool.

My outer race is fully installed. The inner refuses to follow properly. And I can't get a Dremmel tool inserted to clear any possible burrs. My fingers don't detect any raised edges but I'll get a few sheets of wet and dry paper in 600 grit and see if I can chase something down. Very frustrating to be sure Thanks
