MG TD TF 1500 - Interior Panel Welt Diameter

The welt(bead trim strip) that goes behind the interior panels seems a bit too big (in diameter) and creates a crowding problem when I try to close the door. It's about 3/8" in diameter (photo). In photos of other cars, the welt appears to be smaller. Is my welt (from the Moss kit) of standard size?
thanks,
Tyler

My factory trim is 4/16 (almost 5/16) around the doors and 3/16 across the crash pad (TF).

What area- the top/front of the door itself, or around the opening panels? The top/front door piping is larger and real leather, while the other is smaller and vinyl. I had to peel back the vinyl, shave/shorten the fiberboard or wood panel board, replace the covering, etc. in several areas to get an exact fit without clearance issues. The stock panels were just a bit oversize in several spots. I have seen many cars that have the piping, especially at the door front really eaten up by rubbing. This takes some time, but really makes it look nice when finished.

George and Matthew,
The photo (first post) is the panel trim. The trim on top of the door as even larger, probably a half an inch. I have suspected a couple of things: the rear panel is a bit too large, and the panel trim is too big in diameter. The rear panels sit too far forward, crowding the rear of the door opening. The attached photo shows the trim and panel overlapping the door frame when the door is closed. I suspect I'll have to trim off some wood and approach Moss about smaller-diameter panel trim.

Is 1/4" correct for panel trim diameter? What is the correct diameter of door top trim?

Thanks for all help. This has really stumped me.

Folks,
Here is a photo of the side panel trim (attached). The original core (left) is 1/4" while the replacement Moss core is 9/32". Add a little for fabric. And.....

....here's a photo of the Moss top-of-door panel trim. The core material is 3/8", making the whole thing about 7/16". The leather on this piece is thin, like rexine.

thanks,

Doing some measuring with a metric device and some conversions I hope are correct, my thin piping is 0.32", whereas your 9/32 would be .28"; the thicker leather door top: mine 0.4", 7/16 is 0.44". Your new stuff is consistent with my 8 year old Moss kit. Even with smaller diameter, the curvature of the panel in your picture doesn't match the metal so I think you will have to trim the panel some in that area. It has been several years, but I know the door top/front area and some random other places needed work. IF just too big overall, then try to get something smaller in diameter? George
