MG TD TF 1500 - Iridium Spark Plugs
Anyone ever use Iridium plugs in their MG? I put a set in my pickup and 3 years + 90K miles later I changed them just for the heck of it and the old ones looked excellent. I was thinking of putting a set in the TF. Any comments on this? PJ |

Don't expect them to last as long in an old vehicle as they do in a modern one. Modern cars are far less hard on spark plugs of all types! Considering the reduced lifespan in an old car, I wouldn't spend the extra money. |

I have never used them in an MG, but I did in a Saab and a Subaru. I would not recommend their use. |

It was just a thought and reason I asked for others input. The car runs well with the Champions in it, so, as the old saying goes, if it aint broke, don't fix it! Grin. PJ |

We have a saying in the aerospace industry, which goes " 'Better' is the enemy of 'good enough'. " Conventional plugs are good enough; they'll last easily 10,000 miles and cost only a few bucks and ten minutes to replace. The only thing that irridium plugs offer is extended life--but it's not clear to me that would happen in our cars, with their much dirtier combustion than in modern cars. |

Not Iridium but I found years ago that platinum plugs would foul rather easily in my B where ordinary plugs did not. Just passing on my limited experience. |
