MG TD TF 1500 - Jacks: King Dick VS Shelly
I believe both the King Dick and the Shelly are appropriate jacks for the TD. Anyone know what was used first? |

Hard to prove but since Shelley was prevalent for TC's then I would lean towards Shelley imho. |

According to Steve Gyles' jacks database, it looks like the Shelley jack was used for TDs and early TFs, King Dick for later TFs - http://www.classic-british-car-jacks.uk/vehicle_jack_index.htm David |

My research tallies with Matthew's and David's observations suggesting Shelley early, King Dick late. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

My matching number TF 8353, manufactured Dec 17 1954, bought new in 1955 at a California dealer has a Shelly jack, which I believe is original, knowing the background of the car. PJ |

May well be original PJ. Like most stuff from different suppliers it was whatever was available, although to answer Bruce's query it does seem that Shelley jacks were used before King Dick. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

That is what I was thinking. Just purchased a Shelly with the crank and a lug wrench. It looks a bit rusty in the picture I got from the seller, but should be easy to clean up. Never had an original jack. |
