MG TD TF 1500 - Knee Surgery

I am sure some of you out there have had total knee replacement. I did 5 weeks ago. Right knee and I have a left hand drive TF.
I am curious how long it took before you resumed driving your T.

I found nothing in the archive.

Hi Tom,

As you probably have already guessed, each individual will recover differently, time wise, post surgery. Rehab. exercise is important to assist in hastening recovery. Graduated Swim Pool work can do wonders. A Physiotherapist can give you an exercise regime which can be done safely
and progressively.

Having an aim to drive a TF no doubt will have a positive effect !

Tom, if you did a bit of archive digging you'd find that I had my left replaced on March 9, 2017. It was my inability to bring my left foot into Lazarus, my TD, that brought me to do it. Did about 2 months of physical therapy before my knee would flex enough to get my foot on the clutch. It was about a week after that before I took the last narcotic pain pill that prohibited me from driving. It was well worth it. Bud

Tom I had a full knee replacement on the 12th March and I drove my RHG Drive MGA on the 30th April. Had sufficient strength to operate the brake pedal in an emergency practice stop.

Exercise, exercise, exercise, and good physio is essential, before and extremely important after the replacement.

Pain yes. Hard work yes, but it achieves good results. I hade 125 degrees angulation after a few weeks.

I can also Kneel now after desensitising the scar tissue.

Thanks for your responses fellows. I see it won't be too long before I am MG Driving.
And, of course, I am taking post op therapy very seriously.
Hoping to get back to my job in 2 weeks.

Rod, it's interesting how your 'angulation' is measured. Here we take the first 90° for granted. I was delighted when I was measured at 35°. I must look into the concept of 'desensitizing' the scar tissue. Kneeling is frustrating. Bud

Bud
The measurement is "flexion". You want the highest number. Straight leg is zero degrees. You would be more than thrilled to get to 135 degrees. I am sure you are there now, 1 year later. I am at 124 degrees 5 weeks post op and that is quite good.
