MG TD TF 1500 - Late TD/TF clutch peddle stop

I’ve been recommissioning a late TD over the last 4 months. After replacing all the clapped out clutch linkage I noticed the peddle stop is missing. Not wanting the owner to ruin my work with a heavy foot I’m in need of the peddle stop located at the back of the box. If anyone has a spare I would gladly purchase it. If anyone knows an aftermarket source I’ll gladly purchase it. If anyone has a drawing with spec’s I will turn one on my lathe and will even offer them to those who wish the covnert cable linkage to rod or are missing or have worn stops from their peddle boxes.

I know I asked about the location on the box and have that information. I may have asked for the stop info in the distant past but I have no drawings in my archive to work from….

Thanks in advance

Bill, I just tried to crawl under my car (TF RHD) to look at the pedal stop, I couldn't really measure it, but I would guess it is about 1/2" dia, rounded top, about 1/2"-5/8" high, then stepped down to 1/4" to go thru the bottom of the pedal box, and long enough to put a nut and washer on it. Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Bill, see http://www.ttalk.info/PedalShaftDelk.htm for a good view showing the pedal stop. Sorry, no dimensions. Bud

Bingo!! See http://www.ttalk.info/Tech/Clutch_stop.htm I think that may do it. Had to do a search through my entire 20 year archive for the term "stop pin". Bud

Interesting what Bud came up with, but the parts list shows a Stop - Clutch and Brake pedals, 1 of part number 127151 from chassis TD0251.

This infers it works on both pedals, but the info Bud has is only for the clutch pedal. Another great mystery.

Now, that's a puzzler. My car, TD10855, did not have such a pin, nor did it have the large hole in the bottom of the compartment.

I wonder if that 127151 Stop is different from the Stop Pin. I don't know of any such Stop Pin for the brake pedal. Bud

Got it!! The 127151 Stop Nut is an adjusting nut on the clutch cable system It shows in a diagram of the linkage just above the 'Section E.10' at the end of the http://www.ttalk.info/Tech/Clutch_stop.htm linkage.
Sure do miss the late David DuBois

Strange that 127151 refers to Brake and clutch and it appears on chassis page and is not shown on Pedals page but there is Stop - clutch pedal part 500596 from chassis no 22251, but no illustration.

Early cars had the clutch stop integrated into the cable adjustments. The peddle stop that bolts into the peddle box floor didn’t start until the cable was replaced with a lower rod

Thanks for the info. I’ll be making a batch on my lathe.

Cheers

For those who don’t have a lathe or simply don’t want to bother—the bolt that holds together the rear leaf springs (moss part number 320-468 Abington spares calls it a leaf spring locating bolt, 19-083) has a round head that’s the perfect size for a pedal stop. All you have to do is cut it to length. It’s ~$25 but saves time.

J Cosin. Thanks for that tidbit of info.

Found a picture of the clutch stop installed using the rear spring bolt.

And here’s the bolt
