MG TD TF 1500 - Location starting handle to 1500
Where was the starting handle originally located on a late TF 1500? Above the toolbox as on the picture or in the back behind the seats?

Here's mine, where they were originally. First time I've seen one mounted above the tool box. PJ

I forgot to mention that my car is a left hand drive, I think on a right hand drive the starting handle is reversed, so the handle can be reached by the driver. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong. PJ |

On my TF #7157 built September 1954 it is mounted like Paul's. |

I don't have a crank handle or the clips so I can't help, chances of getting one in aus would be a bit slim I would think. regards |

RHD were also handle-left. Matthew. ![]() |

Thanks Matthew, I wasn't aware of that. Thinking about it though, on a RHD that would be the safer side to reach it from, being on the curb side and away from traffic, if needed. So I guess the LHD cars are the odd balls then, we have to reach in on the traffic side! LOL. PJ |

My guess is that the handles were installed at the bodyworks when there was no information to indicate wether the car would be LHD or RHD. Matthew. |

The handle should be on the drivers side of the car, whether RHD or LHD. Dave H |

All RHD TFs I have owned , including the current 1500, originally had the crank handle on the left hand side!!! Cheers Rob Grantham TF3719("Aramis"),TF9177("Athos"). |

Obviously we sent all the back to front ones to Australia, thinking that as they were used upside down they would still be on the correct side! Dave H |
