MG TD TF 1500 - Lube for clutch fulcrum pins

Just cleaning up a spare clutch I found in my inventory. Needs a major cleaning which will remove any existing lubricant on the fulcrum pins.

I'm in the process of replacing my TF clutch with this one, but what lubricant should I put on the fulcrum pins? Not mentioned in the WSM.

Not sure which fulcrum pin you are specifically referring to, but in any case I would use regular grease (Castrol LHM or equiv).

What's about high temp grease?

You can also add a grease nipple to the clutch lever and replace the phosphor bronze bush with a needle roller bearing which is simple to do and is actually cheaper than replacing the bush should it be worn. A 90° grease nipple would probably be even better.

The fulcrum pin is shown as part 35 on plate H - OEM 7H3067. Thanks to your inputs, I'm going to use some Lithium Hi-Temp grease.

Declan - that's a wonderful set-up you have engineered. In fact, it was the breakage of my link that caused he clutch to snap, and it couldn't take it and broke. You may recall I too, made a set of drawings similar to yours, but that's as far as I got! This whole design by MG was certainly an Achilles Heel to the clutch unit. And the famous pedal box only made it worse!

If you are inclined to make another assembly for me, I will be happy to pay any sensible price for a duplicate, and I will send you the (front) clutch lever if you don't have one.

Failing that, perhaps you could e-mail me a few more pictures so I can fabricate my own. Although I don't have a machine shop, my neighbour up the road has a complete shop and can easily make this for me. He is extremely skillful and even made a new cylinder head for his Vincent Black Shadow - from scratch!

Pls respond to the address noted - thanks.
