MG TD TF 1500 - Merson TD List still exists (6/5/25)

Yes, the Merson TD List still exists (so do I). Last time it was edited was 9/17/2023 with 3,169 cars. I'll get back to it very shortly. Access to the list is still via my Ttalk.info website:
http://www.ttalk.info/car_lists.htm
I see that Ttalk is 'Not Secure'. I need to see what it takes to get that 's' in https. Anybody know how I do that?
Last time I was up to it I recall being bugged by the various Excel versions. I think the 'old' version is still functional. I'm not quite ready to climb onto the Windows 11 wagon yet.
I'll contact Rick Taylor about the TF List.

I still have to get Lazarus ready for the Fourth of July Parade.

Bud: You'll need to get a SSL certificate for your site. I use:

https://letsencrypt.org/

But your hosting site (assuming you have one) may have some options for you.

Note that generally these get updated quarterly.
Christopher Couper

Thanks, Chris, I've been meaning to do that for a while.

Bud

I have forwarded the Payanes list to your email.

There are 1582 TF's on the list

We're nearly finished with our new TC list. It's all been converted from Excel to a fully functional database, searchable by several fields. We have around 2,400 TCs in it currently, which is almost 1/4 of the total cars produced and more cars pop up regularly! It will be online soon (the DB guy is working for free aka slowly).
Steve Simmons

Wow Steve. That is amazing that many TCs have survived. I guess going classic at about 20 years makes a huge difference.

The TC gained a sort of cult status immediately after production ended. I figure that's because the purists considered it the last of the "real MGs", before they modernized with IFS, R&P, small non-wire wheels, etc. Of course the same people said the T-Series (TA) was an atrocity when it came out in 1936 because it had a push rod engine. And then they said it again when the MGA came out to replace the TF with it's new-fangled streamlining. But the TC in particular seemed to strike a cord with people, perhaps because it was the car that jump started the whole sports car craze in the USA. As many were brought over here privately after production ended as the factory ever shipped here as new cars! By many estimates, about 40-50% of TCs produced still exist. Finding them all is another matter...
Steve Simmons

Steve Simmons, if you goggle MG car club of Victoria( Australia), click on Registars, scroll down to the T-registar, a drop box will appear, there you will find a list of about 810 TC's in Australia that are known about. There is also a TD list and also a TF list that I maintain, which has about 300 cars. Hope this is of interest.

Thanks, I've seen that list. A lot of the cars are also on our list but probably not all of them. It would be amazing to combine all the lists. There are at least 3 or 4 TC lists out there but no one (except you) has shown any interest in sharing data. A couple of them are kept totally private except for specific inquiries.

I'm really looking forward to getting our list online, once the web interface is completed. It's been a lot of work to get this far.

Somehow, the TD Merson List is continuing in spite of Microsoft 10 and 11 destruction. The latest is at https://www.ttalk.info/car_lists.htm.
I can not tell you what version of Excel will be on display.
When you sign in you'll be getting a Windows 10 file that is saved in an outfit called Aplus. And, they're about to make some changes into Canada.
I started all of my Ttalk.info stuff back in 2010 using a Microsoft program called Expression Web 4. Web4 stopped being updated back in the mid-teens. I've stored the data in Aplus for most of the past 15 years.
Windows 11 will not be allowing me to run Web 4, unless I pull a sneaky one (stay tuned).
We're trapped by their versions of Excel. What you see at https://www.ttalk.info/car_lists.htm is the best that I can do at the moment.
FYI, my Web 4 file contains 410 folders with 15,515 files, at the moment.
Cheers,

Just an idea to make the list more forward accessible and avoid many of the app platform issues you're encountering maybe try this.
On your google drive (if not have an account, create a free one) make a separate folder, set permission to view only, you create a google Sheets file (their Excel spreadsheet equivalent), import your Excel file (any version, or export your list to a CSV and import that file). Setit's permission to All to view only.
Then on your TTAlk site just put a link to that Sheets file.
I guess one question is how much of column resorting you want/need to give to viewers. If just get out a list then there is always you export (IE Print) your list to PDF file and just post that on your site.

Bud,

I suggest you try OpenOffice as an alternative to Excel. This is a freeware version of the same apps found in MS Office. I use it on a Mac but I believe there is also a version for the Windows crowd. It is on the Apache web site.

Alternatively, you might think of migrating the list to a MySQL database or other freeware system. I've used MySQL for a number of projects and it works just as well as many of the big names.
