MG TD TF 1500 - MG TD Lift Point - Pedal Box
I tried to locate and reactivate a thread I started two years ago about acquiring a two post lift but between my slow internet connection and my slow computer system I failed so I'm starting anew. I bought the MaxJak two post shorty (raises the car four feet) lift 18 months ago and hope to finish the installation tomorrow. If all goes well I will also do the first car lift tomorrow. My concern is that on my LHD TD it appears that the pedal box extends below the frame by about 1/8-1/4 inch. I don't know if this is original or something the PO did but I'm concerned that the front left lift pad will be on the edge of the pedal box and do damage to the box (or worse, cause the car to be unstable on the lift). It looks like the frame starts to sweep up just ahead of the pedal box so I can't move the pad forward. Should I put the left lift pad to the rear of the pedal box or just let it push up against the edge of the box? I suppose a third alternative is a thin strip of plywood between the lift pad and the frame to protect the pedal box. Thanks. Jud TD25009 |

Jusd. I recently had mine on a two post lift next door to where I am building the car. I put heavy runner pads on all for lift pads and swung the fronts just ahead of the box. I have to say their lift had various spacers to ajust the pad heights on all corners to insure a level pick of the chassis. I didn't have any issues but I also put a stabilizer blew the rear crossmember for peace of mind. I'm not a huge fan of these lifts but understand the advantages. I watch a C6 Z06 Corvette fall backwards of one of these at a GM dealership several years ago and swore I would never use one on any of my cars. I prefer a drive on but then that makes it hard to get the tires off. It's all about compromises Cheers Bill Chasser jr TF4834 |

Jud - "I bought the MaxJak two post shorty (raises the car four feet) lift" You could almost work in a lawn chair with that amount of lift :-) Cheers - Dave |

Dig that! A lift even at that height is welcome. |

Looks like you can do everything a full lift can do if you sit on a dolly chair for the occasional need to access the undercarriage. Nice. Dave |

When you get about a foot off the floor, stop the lift and give the bumper a good up and down wiggle to test the stability of the lift attachments. A car fall from this distance is a good story, not a bad, life changing day. David |
