MG TD TF 1500 - MG TF for rebuild

I have an Mg-tf in many many parts in the barn for 35 years. I do have new red leather seats in my basement.

Not sure all the parts are there but most are. Have been offered $3,000. Im 89 and want to sell but not give it away as kids will get the money. Thoughts please? Is it the right amount of money?

Nice buyer who will restore it for his kids.

That seems a very fair price for a TF in that condition IF the buyer is going to restore it because those parts are just a starting point for his expenses. Try to get a commitment from him that that's what he's going to do though because if he's buying it simply to part it out on eBay you should try to get more.

Where are you located? There may be others interested that may bring more money to the table. Gene's assessment is spot on. The cost to restore one is far more than the value will be when finished, even when doing all of the work yourself.

Feels low to me for a TF, even as a 1250, and even if 85% complete. I don't know where you are located, but I've paid 5k for worse...

Depends greatly if indeed all is there. Dash instruments and many TF specific parts are very scarce, etc. A disassembled car is worth less IMHO than one still put together. $5K if really all there. George

5 years ago, I paid $2800 for my TF in similar condition. Locked up engine and about 85% complete. Missing mostly small bits and interior. Where are you located?

I have a TD and a kid. Make sure any "kids" really wants such a responsibility! Kids are different these days, sadly:( It could end up in a kids basement for many years!
