MG TD TF 1500 - MG TF jack bearing

Dear Friends,

Could You help me, where can I find axial bearing for my MG TF jack. I dont find in the bearing catalog.

Such jacks are to be seen but not used. Get a modern jack for when you actually want to use it.

What is the diameter of the screw?
What is the Maximum OD of the bearing can have?
So you want a solid thrust washer or an actual ball bearing?

Tamas this pic from JR Mahoney shows what the original bearing looked like. It has been suggested that a bicycle shop may be able to supply it. Cheers

you can buy, as I did, a thrust bearing with needle bearings and 2 thrust washers. It works like a charm.

Hi Tamas,

I have recently fitted a new thrust bearing in my TF's jack and I bought it from eBay. If you put thrust bearing into the UK eBay site there are lots of firms selling ball thrust bearings. I think mine only cost about £2. If you can't access the UK site let me know the outer and inner dimensions of the bearing and I will have a look for you. I know a modern hydraulic jack is more convenient but a screw jack is safer.

I have hydraulic jack what i use, but i would like to repair the orignal jack. The bearings size what I search:
Outter diameter: 43,5 mm
Inner diameter: 28,5 mm
Height: i dont know, it is missing.

Hi Tamas,

The closest size I can find on eBay is 30mm x 47mm x 11mm. The cost is £1.45. I don't know if you can use eBay in Hungary but if you can't and at that cost and providing the sizes is OK I can buy one for you and post it over.
