MG TD TF 1500 - MG TF Tepm Gage Fitting
I have searched the archive, but cannot find an answer. What size is the fitting for the TF Water Temp gage? I have the 1500 Water outlet, and I know the Heater outlet size is 3/8-18 BSPP. but I cannot determine the other fitting thread size. Thanks Rick |

This is a ED radiator. It may be totally different than the TF. I have little knowledge of the TF. The temperature gauge, may have a fitting like the one on the left. I believe there are two separate approaches the factory used. If so then there is an adapter that goes into the radiator to allow the fitting to fit. There is another approach. Its different but I dont remember how it works. FWIW the fiber washer/gasket on the adapter in the radiator would indicate the threads in the radiator are straight. Jim B. ![]() |

It is 3/8" NPT see thread "cooling systems problem just below" Ray TF2884 |

If you are talking about the jam nut on the sensor tube, it is 5/8 - 18. Cheers - Dave |

Dave, That is a running fit NPT. I think it is one of the standardised forms. In a similar way as BSP pipe fittings are used throughout Europe even though everything else is metric. Ray TF 2884 |

Jim, The TF looks like this, front hole is for the heater pressure side and the rear hole, #2, is for the sending unit and is seated. PJ

Thank you for the responses. I have the 1500 water outlet, but the threads for both fittings need some serious cleaning. Rick |

Rick, when cleaning the threads, be careful not to nick the seat where the temp bulb sets on. Even though mine doesn't leak, I put a little non hardening sealant on the bulb seat. PJ |
