MG TD TF 1500 - MGB-type Plastic Fan
A club member wants to install a multi-blade plastic fan on his TD. Moss only has MGB fans. I believe that the diameter of the MGB fan is too large (?) My TF has a yellow plastic fan that was on it when I bought the car. The blades have not been shortened to fit. Where can he buy a multi-blade fan to fit a TD? Thanks, Lonnie TF7211 |

Lonnie, The MGB fan fits but it requires sleeves/ferrules as holes are slightly too big. I usually supply them ready sleeved for the TD but I'm sold out at the moment. Regards Declan ![]() |

Delcan, I just bought a "B" fan from some one who ordered the wrong one for his B,, can you tell me the ID,, OD of the brass tubing that is needed to mount it on a TD ? Thanks, Steve |

Declan can you supply the bushings to fit the ferrules in the MGB fan. I too want to mount my B fan but can't seem to find A readily available material to make the bushings and I don't have access to a lathe I ll be happy to pay the the shipping across the pond Cheers Bill Chasser Jr TD4834 |

The MGB fan is indeed the one to have. Declans solution is much more beautiful, but as said on other threads, I used a piece of hose that was conveniently close at hand when I discovered that the MGB holes are to big. ![]() |

the diameter of the fan is fine (this pictures is of my Y-type, but the same goes for the TD.

Steve, Here's an enlarged drawing of the sleeves. The problem is that the holes in the fan inserts are not uniform. The OD 6.95mm is my average so 7mm brass is ideal and then drill out to 5.2 ... 5.3mm. What I will be doing for the next batch will be to ream the fan inserts to 7mm and they are easier to make using 7mm brass rod. Bill, Of course I can make you a set but we don't know if your MGB fan comes from the same Chinese factory as did my source. Can you beg, borrow or steal a 7mm reamer locally? Regards Declan ![]() |

Thanks guys. A few minutes ago, my friend told me that he found and bought an MGB fan to fit T-series cars at FTFU. Lonnie TF7211 |

Lonnie, Was it sleeved because if it is it is a good price. Regards Declan |

Declan - I don't know. The website states "Improved cooling, Bolt-on fan, R&R ,no mod required" Lonnie TF7211 |

As Doug sells mostly TC parts, will the fan he's selling for a TC be the same for a TD and TF? His price is the same as the MGB unaltered fan, nice. PJ |

I have my doubts if they are sleeved at that price. The fans that I provide are 75€, sleeved and including worldwide postage. Regards Declan |

I exchanged emails with my friend earlier today. He told me that the fan has the brass bushings and that the holes fit the TD perfectly. Lonnie TF7211 |

Lonnie. When I purchased my fan several months ago from Moss. Though it has inserts in the blades the "B" uses larger diameter bolts. The additional sleeves are to neck it down furthe for the T series pump mounting hardware. I have yet to find suitable stock to make the sleeves. We don't have metric round stock or tubing in my area that I've been able to source. Declan I'd still be willing to pay you for a set of bushings and postage across the pond if you have any made up. I'm having to pull my radiator and timing cover to re check my race motor cam timing and would like to put my "B" fan on when it goes back together Cheers Bill Chasser jr TD4834 |

Bill, I will be doing some sleeves during the week as soon as some 7mm brass stock arrives and I will make you a set. Do you have access to a 7mm reamer or can you tell be what size drill bit, either metric or imperial,is a snug fit on you fan? You will also need to mail me your address. Regards Declan |
