MG TD TF 1500 - Moss Dipper Switch
Bought a new dipper switch from Moss as the original one is shot, only has high beam, and the new switch is junk! It worked one time and now fails to change from high to low beam. Moss will know about it, but I just wanted to relay that information. I don't know who sells a new good one, if someone knows, I'd appreciate a clue. Thanks in advance. PJ |

That's good to know. What car do you have? |

Paul, do you still have your old one? The on 'the53' was shot, but I was able to open it up and put it in working order with no trouble. Bud |

Geoffery, It's a TF. Bud, I still have the old one and repaired it about a year ago, but really it's just wore out and the spring contacts are very weak, so they don't apply very much pressure on the flipper bar inside. I doubt very much if new guts are available for it, if they were they'd probably come from xxxxx. PJ |

PJ when you say "Moss will know about it" do you mean you'll tell them or...? It's obvious Moss don't care about their Duty of Care. Apparently this is a concept that's foreign to them. As foreign as the cheap imports they flog that are, as Paul says, "junk!". When my list grew to over 40 crappy items I stopped adding to it, as it finally became clear to me that even Glen Adams, the Moss CEO, doesn't seem to give a hoot. Sadly his assurances given verbally to me in April of 2014 that he would investigate 17 items I gave him details on & get back to me were worthless, just like far too many of the parts he sells. This forum is acknowledged as perhaps the most informed of it's kind anywhere in the world when it comes to T Types. Surely collectively, with our buying power, we can do something about this.. can't we? Or maybe I'm just dreaming. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

I seem to recall that I replaced the spring with one from the local hardware store's goody box. Biggest problem was in reassembling it with a screw in place of the rivet. Bud Geoff, the later TDs have the foot dipper. |

Peter, I was indicating that I will inform them that this part is, in plain English, Junk! To buy a used one, which is 60+ years old also, is not worth the effort to me. I'm thinking of how to modify an original with the internals of a modern switch. Anything is possible. PJ |
