MG TD TF 1500 - motor bearings needed

I'm looking for NOS Glacier or VP rod & main bearings. I have a set of rare .012's to trade. Yes I can get new ones from Country but that is not nearly the same from what I've read and heard from the groups. Thanks in advance. Jack

JR, I don't know what size your looking for but there was/is a set of VPs listed on Ebay on either the MGTC, MGTD or XPAG search .010 Rod bearings type: mgtc vp bearings

For years he was the go-to guy for NOS and obsolete Vandervell bearings. Don't know if he still has much, or if he has anything for the XPAG, but he is definitely worth a try. At least he can tell you where to find them or if you are just hunting a unicorn.

Hi Guys,

Peugeot 403 conrod bearings ALMOST fit XPAG engines. Maybe that is useless information unless MG bearings become hard to get.

About 40 years ago I looked through a bearing book and found that the Peugeot bearing has exactly the same tunnel size and crankpin size. When I looked at a set, I saw that the oil hole is also perfectly positioned.

There are only two differences. One is that the bearing is the full width of the rod, which is an advantage for bearing area but would require careful measurement and possibly some careful chamfering to ensure it doesn't bind on the crankpin radius. The other difference is that the "tang" is on the wrong side. That would require a groove to be ground on the other side of the rod. It could perhaps be done by hand with a Dremel tool.

I have never used the Peugeot bearings but the increased area should be good in a race car. Of course, Peugeot bearings might be harder to get than MG bearings!
