MG TD TF 1500 - Mystery MG Knob??
(I'm cross-posting this on the other MG-T forum)
Anyone know what this is? Who made it? About 2 to 2-1/2" tall. The threaded hole is about 1/4" diam. I haven't actually seen or measured the actual knob, so I can't confirm the dimensions. A guy approached me in our TF at a roadside store in a small town while Jo Ann and I were returning from the British car show in Safety Harbor Florida. He told me about the knob and sent photos. I told him that I would ask the experts for help. Thanks for any help that you can share. Lonnie TF681 TF7211 ![]() ![]() |

Wild guess, a fancy aftermarket knob used to hold the valve cover down? |

Found the answer. It's an aftermarket Bell MG shift knob. See this WTB ad on the other forum. Shows the knob and a vintage Bell ad for the knob @ $1.95. https://www.mgexp.com/forum/buy-sell-and-trade-forum.42/wanted-vintage-bell-shift-knob-for-mg-td.4313111.4447187/ Lonnie TF681 TF7211 |

My car had a shift knob like that when I bought it. I never knew who made it until now. I thought it was poorly made and ugly. I ditched it years ago and don't remember what I became of it. Dumpster, probably. Joe |

I have seen those on shift levers for older MG's but did not know they were aftermarket. |

This is a knob made by Bell Accessories for MG TD/TF back in the 50's/60's. They made many other items as well. See the ad below.
