MG TD TF 1500 - Mystery part

I removed the top of one of the carbs to replace the gasket and washers and this part fell to the floor. I can't find it on the Moss breakdown of the carbs and wonder where it goes. Can anyone help?

Off the tickler pin?

Item 24, may also be a spring floating around.

If it fell from the dome then it could also be what was holding the valve on the damper rod.
Steve Simmons

Steve is correct - it is one version of what holds the damper onto the damper rod.

Sorry, I should have said 'I removed the top of one of the float chambers'. It is a 1954 TF and has no tickler pin.

The image sent by BWW is very different from my copy of the Moss Catalog with different numbers?

Ron Coates

Some of the repro tickler pins used tiny e-clips, as do some damper rods. If really tiny, likely where it came from. TFs came with tickler pins. George

Could be somebody used it as a replacement for the correct gasket on the overflow tube. Just a guess.
