MG TD TF 1500 - Need 3BA nuts

Just finished TF carpet on Saturday, and about ready to start wiring on instrument cluster, but realized I'm missing two 3BA nuts that hold on the tachometer.

Would anyone happen to have these to spare, before I place such a small order to Brit Tools? I'd be happy to pay any expense or postage.

thanks,
Tyler

Can you use 1 from each of the other 2 dials untill you need to place a decent order.

Love to see some pics of your carpet.

Yes, two gauges are currently held in place with one nut for each, but would like to get both secured before I close up the panel.

I've got photos of the carpet, but it's tough to get a good photo of black carpeting detail (it all looks pretty black). The Moss carpet kit is cut for a foot rest, which my car didn't have, so I cut one piece for the passenger toe board and one larger piece for the passenger floor (forward from the seat).

I would like to find rubber mats to put on top of carpet for protection, but have found only fabric mats for the TF. Not a lot of protection from spilled coffee or Dr. Pepper.

Google search had a few hits. I have used British parts and fasteners in the past. Great service. Regards, Tom

Are those the same nuts (thumbnuts) used in the TD to secure the backs of the tach and speedometer?

If so, I may have a couple around here someplace.

Darry, will send you some photos if you send me an email address.

Mark, the 3BA nuts are hex head nuts.
Thanks,

Dead easy to make if you have a 3 BA tap and a lathe with a knurling tool. Let me know if you want me to bang out a few.

Tyler, I have those and could post them to you, no problem and no cost of course. Just let me know your address at my e-mail bruijst at iae.nl Greetings, Huib

Thanks Lew and Huib for your generosity, which is typical for this bulletin board.(Huib: I sent you an email). Lots of folks here have helped me over the last 4 years to get the TF done. Now lacking only the dash and instrument cluster (and weather equipment). See photo of wife, taking a neighborhood test cruise.

Thanks Huib for sending the 3BA nuts. Most of the nuts on the back of the instrument panel were not reusable. also had to mill down, drill, and tap new studs to mount the instruments.

Photo: before.

After: 4BA ignition switch studs.

I hope to get the instrument panel done over Christmas.

thanks again,

Tyler
