Mine's gone and the speedo drive is rubbing on the diz cap. Simple enough to make one???? Thanks. .... |

Mitch, This is what I put on mine. Made from a strip of thin sheet metal. Mort ![]() |

Hmmmm. Metal strap or zip-tie..... Decisions, decisions. .... |

Just to be clear this is the engine revolution drive and not the speedo :-) |

Mitch - A fiber washer inside the adapter for the generator output will keep the tach gearbox from rotating freely. Cheers - Dave |

Mitch Not sure if you meant the Tach Drive assy. & not Speedo? IF you fit a washer between the brass split insert and the end of the dynamo to take up the slack that lives there. It will not rotate or vibrate loose. Mine has been this way for several years now and it does not move. It does not interfere or touch the Dissy and looks the way it should. All you need is a correct size washer - I used shake proof but you can use anything so long as it fills the gap. Also file away the brass between the faces of the clamp to help it grip better. Mine originally toughed and did not get tight. I also increased the size of the screw in this clamp to give better purchase with a washer, locking washer and nut. I did add two small nylok nuts to the screws that replaced the rivets that go through the small gearbox. After regreasing the box. To prevent it all coming apart due to vibration. Other than that it is a solid as a rock. Another niggling issue resolved. Rod. ![]() |

I'm just fond of having occasional bits of visible brass so after I drilled out the tach drive rivets to clean and re-lube the drive I used brass thumb nuts to hold the casing together. I also inserted an O ring where the drive connects to the generator output shaft and have had no movement for over two years and quite a bit of driving. Jud ps: The high tension wire from the coil to the dizzy no longer wraps around the radiator stay. ![]() |
