MG TD TF 1500 - Need floor panel screws
I'll be needing a pile of screws that fasten the plywood floors to the body rails. Abingdon doesn't have them, Moss doesn't show them in any diagrams. Thanks. .... |

They are listed on the body timbers page with the floorboards. page 32 in the Moss catalog Under item 31 floorboards 323-828 Hardware Set - Floorboard Mounting (screws & washers $39.95 ie: 1/4 BSF Flathead screws and the special washers for the flathead screws |

Only four screws are used on each floorboard to attach it to the outer wood rail. I used 1-1/4" #10 flat head slotted wood screws. Chris Couper shows 1" #12 flathead slotted wood screws on his site. If you are referring to the screws that fasten the floorboards and tunnels, click this link for description of the ones that I used on my TF. When the file loads, click the download icon near the top center of the screen to download. (downward pointing arrow with a bar across the tip). https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxisXBEpc-IWa25XaHc4akNPd28/view?usp=sharing Part numbers are listed for each item by From-the-Frame-Up, Moss, Abingdon-Spares, and British-Tool-and-Fastener. I was lucky that all but one of my BSF "tee nuts" were still in the original floorboards. I transferred them to my new floorboards. FYI - Your TD may have used slotted floorboard screws. Not sure when MG started using Phillips floorboard screws. Floorboard plans and details on Bud's site: http://www.ttalk.info/MGTDFloorboards5.htm Lonnie TF7211 |

I ordered the Moss kit, $39.00. I'll go through it and see how close they come. Quite honestly, given the rust and PO's fiddling, I'd be amazed if I didn't have to pop a few rivnuts in to tie things together. Remember, this is a driver and I have ZERO intentions of beginning a restoration because of a few snapped off screws. /GRIN/ Been there - done that, too many times. This one's a driver. Keeping it on the road is the prime objective. (unless, of course, I find a better driver.. then maybe I could do a few things...) ...... |

Lonnie: I changed those to 1 1/4" number 10's. Not sure why I had 1" number 12's. Beefy :-) |
