MG TD TF 1500 - Not TD but has the look
Saw this car in a W.C. Fields movie. It's from 1939. It's a chrisler 8 roadster, but coming at you. Looks like our TD http://www.imcdb.org/i402692.jpg |

Indeed- but then that was the style back then. There's also a Singer (forgot the model) that look like a spitting image of the TD Rgds Mike |

I wonder if the "State Line" is real or a movie thing. Pretty funny either way..... Hmmm. NC to TN maybe? Oh, now them's fight'in words them there, boy. ... |

The State line issue used to be a real thing. Now if the police are in hot pursuit they are permitted to continue to try and apprehend the subject. I'd imagine the movie was shot in California. I too saw the resemblance to MGs in the movie. Tim TD12524 |

The other interesting point that one can still find today is that on one side it is a dirt road, on the other it is paved. I have seen this with new pavement on one side of a county sign and poor road on the other. |

Going OT about differences in road surfaces, went up the Öztal pass between Austria and Italy one year some while back. On the Austrian side, all sweeping bends and smooth roads on the climb up. And then we hit the Italian border. Italians customs man approached, all swarthy, peaked cap, sunglasses, gun slung low: ‘Hey, Inglese! Alfa Romeo! (I owned an Alfasud Sprint Veloce at the time) Entrate!’ and then as he leaned over: ‘Droghe?’. Anyway, off we went through the border. The road immediately narrowed with a rough surface and plunged downhill into a dark narrow tunnel with dripping water and slippery wet cobbles. Immediately at the end of the tunnel is a 90 degree turn. If you missed it, you hit the valley floor below … David |

We sometimes see the same thing in Ireland. Oddly beautiful stretches of road from a town to a certain point. Here we assume that the new road ends just outside the local politician's house. Dave |

Hey, David W - whatever happened to the Alfasud ? I lost mine to corrosion - a car that a thoroughy miss, it was just great !! Rgds, Mike |

Getting back to the original subject by Bruce Cunha, I think the car depicted may be a 1931 Chrysler CM 6. Not many left now. Reminds me of the days when I was a youngster......now an old geezer.

Attached is a picture of a 1953 Singer 4AD. This car has been a show winner in a number of British Car Shows in California. Louis ![]() |
