MG TD TF 1500 - Not TD/TF - TA special

This week I collected my TA special from the machinist's shop.

Looks good I think.........

And the other side.......

Very, very pretty. I hope you are going to race it.
David Provan

Wow, that's a very impressive racer. Thanks for posting and good luck on the finishing touches. Have you had it our on the road, and if so how does it handle?

looks good Erik, racing blue engine ;)

which head is it please, have you figures compared to stock head?

have fun
mog

Thank you for your reactions.

I don't intend to race it, though it would be nice to do a lap on a real racingcircuit once.

It did not run yet as I have to fabricate gaskets and brackets etc. before i can start it up.

It has an XPAG engine with a crossflow cylinderhead and (as you can see) a frontmounted crankdriven Volumex supercharger.

thank you for your support.

Fantastic! I plan to do one of these someday, but I have so many other projects to finish first. Looks like you're well on your way toward driving it.

Is the body from Steve Baker in the UK?
Max Irvine

Hello,
No, the body is by Compound Curvatures in Nottingham.

I also enclose a pic of the dashboard.

H Eric, yours is very similar to the body I have here in South OZ.
It is fibreglass and was moulded some time ago from a K3 Magnette body.
Seeing your progress is an incentive to get cracking on mine.
Looks great.

Great work! Who made the gauges in the center?
David Littlefield

rubber cover on the remote? how do you get to the reverse clip?
mog

David: the 4 gauges in the centre are from Patrick Henry in Ireland

Mog Cattery: it as a TC gearbox with a MMM remote which had a different slot (not H shaped). There is no reverse clip.

Jasper: Sooner or later I will

Please identify gauges. The 4 in the center and the far right. I assume the far left is ameter. The large one is Tach. What's the lever on the right of column?

Hi,

Thank you all for your interest; I've been working on this car since 2009, and as those of you that are also working on a long term project know, it is very important if not vital to get some support every now and then.
It keeps you going.

The car is based on a thirties MG QA (or Qtype), of which 8 real ones are built.
I want the car to have a "period" appearance as much as possible and that's why during the last few years I collected the right period parts on ebay, autojumbles etc.
For your interest I enclose a pic of the bulkhead on which you also can see this.

The dashboard is based on the dashboard of the MG Qtype and almost an exact copy.
The 4 larger gauges are (clockwise from left up): oilpressure, oiltemperature, supercharger vacuum/pressure and water temperature.
The lever at the upperright is a master switch and the small gauge at the bottom right is oilpressure of the supercharger.

The small gauge far left indeed is amps.

Feel free to ask more questions; telling you more is my pleasure.

Have you seen this page in your research Erik?

will begood to see it finished, remember Tom Dark getting his car going a few years ago, a lot of huffing and puffing if I remember right, lot more work and a bit more pain than an xpag.

mog

Stunning car Erik !
Truly a work of art !!!
(Wish I had some time to start my TD project...maar wat in het vat zit...enz.)
