MG TD TF 1500 - Odometer is now turning like a trip gage.
Everything was OK until I reset the trip gage. Now: the 1 Mi digits do not move. the 10 MI digits do not move. The 100 Mi digits do not move. The 1000 Mi digits move at a rate of 1 every 1/10 mile (estimate) The 10,000 Mi digits follow the 1000 Mi digits. I lubricated the instrument about 10 years ago. Any suggestions? Jim B. |

Jim, The only thing that could cause this problem is for some reason the number wheels have shifted on their shaft to the left or right. They are held in position by a spring on the barrel shaft, it may be that this spring has broken. The shift may be visible from the opening. I don't know why resetting the trip odometer caused this as each number barrel is independent. John |
