Erik My front crankshaft seal has a slow seeping leak. I've had good success in catching many of the drips with those Oil Absorbent pads that Moss lists in their catalog. Can't recall the specific brand name right now, something like "foospad". If I need to, I'll can get the specific name later today. Tom '54 TF |

There is a modern, double lip Volvo camshaft seal that fits in the slot containing the leaky rope seal. This modification is totally hidden, does not leak a drop, and is fully reversible should you want the originality of a leaky front seal again. David |

"Front" meaning front of the car (as opposed to rear axle seal which also leaks) or front of the engine (as opposed to rear of the engine which also always leaks)? |

If there is any misunderstanding: I mean leakage at the front end of the crankshaft. |

Erik, Have you tried the Volvo cam oil seal P/N 6842273? |

In my post earlier I mis-named the oil pad I used. It is Koospad, found on the Moss website. Works OK. David, my engine has a modern lip seal upgrade. Still leaks lightly. I suspect the crank pulley was worn and grooved. Currently I am in no position to pull the engine to do the repair. Hence, the diaper. Tom |
