MG TD TF 1500 - Oil Cooler
Geof, I will post a series of pics. Easier than combining them. Mort First are some parts. I made an aluminum bracket. I used a shorter filter. Shown is the adapter from Bob Grunau. Not shown are the braided hoses I had made up for me. ![]() |

I was cautioned by LaVerne that my front vanity plate would restrict the air flow to the cooler so I hinged the plate to the bumper. It gets to this fully cleared position at about 30-35 MPH. You see the stainless screen I mounted to protect the fins. ![]() |

The adapter mounts between filter and canister. It was difficult running the hoses efficiently but they fit great and worked fine. ![]() |

Mort - Don't get too close to concrete parking bumpers with that cooler. Cheers - Dave |

Don't forget to put your oil pan back on :-) David |

Very impressive installation. Oil coolers really help the bottom end lubrication. Good work. David. |

I took the oil cooler off when I went to a 4 core radiator. As I recall it was not the lowest point on the undercarriage. However caution near a parking block is always a good idea. Geof, Let me know if your interested and I will look up the cost for the components and come up with a depreciated price. You're welcome to the receipts if I still have them. ![]() |

I'd be interested in the reduction of the flow of oil. That much piping and that many bends has to have some effect. ..... |

Mitch, I had no decrease in oil pressure and a small reduction in engine temperature. No problems at all with the oil cooler but my radiator was pretty much shot. Mort |

Mort, thanks so much for posting all this. I'll be planning this mod soon, I hope! A parts/price list would be most helpful! |

I believe LaVerne has one on his TF. Surprised he hasn't chimed in on this subject. PJ |
Paul Jennings |
Yep I have one.

Oil pressure and oil flow are two different things. If the engine needs, for example, 1 gallon/minute, how do you know you are not choking this down to half a gallon/minute, especially on cold days when oil can be quite sticky? I think coolers can be a good idea, but how did you match the size of the lines and passages in the cooler to the capabilities of the pump? ..... |

Geof, I just pulled the parts out of storage and looked up some old invoices. I will try to post them in a series of postings.
