MG TD TF 1500 - Oil filter – Tecalemit canister

Hello,

I am trying to find locally in Spain a suitable oil filter element for the Tecalemit original canister in my 53 TD. I have searched the archives and found some advices on makes and models, but also some discrepancies between these recommended filters when the dimensions are compared.

So, can some of you tell me the dimensions of the filter element that you have used and effectively worked in the Tecalemit canister?

Total length, OD and ID are enough.

Thanks.

Jesus
My TF had a Tecalemit filter - the dimensions are 106mm x 70mm.

The ID is 32mm.

Hello Jesus,

I have changed my oil and filter this weekend luckily didn't throw the old one away yet, here are the dimensions.

OD 7.3cm
ID 3.3cm
Length 10.1cm

The length does not include the thickness of the rubber rings, they are 3 mm each.

I use the classic gold element ref GFE 102
My canister is also Tecalemit.

Thank you all for the detailed information.

A source of discrepancies I have found among the total filter length data can be in the rubber or cork gaskets being included or not in the measurement.

Now, I have found another filter element to add to the list: Mann H816x (for the record.

Jesus, I use a NAPPA 1300 filter, but you probably don't have them there, but, it is the same as a WIX 51300 filter which might be available to you in Spain. PJ

In any case its better to get rid of the Tecalemit filter and replace it with a canister type. Conversion kits are available at low cost from the UK. Makes for easier changing and is a finer filter.

Filter element is under spring tension, isn't it? Cork gasket might swell when wet with oil, then get squashed down again under spring.
