MG TD TF 1500 - Optima Battery & Fake cover
Bought an Optima battery for the TF because of size. Don't have to loosen bonnet hinge to install, plus a fake cover from Tar Topper for a Corvette. Two problems, the fake cover I don't like, cheap crappy looking, but will use for now, the Optima battery doesn't set right against the rubber bumpers, when tightened with the battery hold down bracket, it wants to move to one side or the other. I have to make a plate to go behind the battery to set against the rubber bumpers to keep the battery straight. Later I'll get a proper battery for the car and put the Optima in one of my tractors, then heave the plastic cover. Live and learn. PJ |

This is my optima battery with a tar topper "Delco" case, modified to emulate a Lucas battery. Fairly simple, reasonably priced, very clean (no leaks) and almost looks the part. David ![]() |

Same trick in a TF. The cut off switch is easily removed with a 5/16" BSF wrench. David ![]() |

Did you say tractors? Mine's a '46 Deere. :) |

Yeah Steve, This is one of four. They are working tractors. I have my dads 1944 Farmall, but it's working days are over.PJ![]() |

You can do some serious cutting with that deck. |
