MG TD TF 1500 - OT - Book Identification

I've come across a hard cover book entitled, "THE WORKS MGs". It's virtually new, doesn't even show signs of having been flipped through. The info sheet says "First Published in 2000". Googling seems to show values from $10US to $100US. This one's cover has the Haynes logo in the upper right corner. Others show a logo in the upper center.

Anybody have van idea as to why some are more valuable than others? Is this one just run-of-the-mill? TIA BUD

I have no idea why the values differ so much online.
I collect MG books (too?) and try to keep the purchase prices low.

One reason for the expensive listings may be that bookshops can show what a bargains they have on their shelves....

Wishful thinking?

I bought one brand new when they were still being published. I seem to remember paying $20-30. Well worth it, great book. And I've driven that car on the back cover. :)

Well, I really have enough M.G. books. Anybody want it for $20? First email gets it.

Right now I'd be happy to swap it fora book to help me fix my daughter's 1991 Dodge D150 pickup's charging system. Dynamos are simple. Alternators/regulators/computers -- Oh my!! Bud

Bud - as a retired librarian and bookman, I can indeed tell you. There are a few reasons, all good ones.
1) Private sellers sometimes price as high they can, in case someone is stupid.

2) If ONE person prices a book high, others jump on the bandwagon, hoping that that reflects the going price. It often doesn't. This is most true when there only a couple of copies of a particular book for sale, so there is not much choice.

3) Amazon has bought ABE books, which gives Amazon a platform to price books high and low without revealing who the seller is, hoping that someone is stupid enough to buy the expensive one as perhaps somehow better. It isn't! Amazon is ruining the book-buying experience by insidiously trying to manipulate prices and listings; often they will try to sell the same book from different locations for different prices, and hope that people will assume that the prices are from private sellers, and there is some competition.

In short, don't buy the first copy you see, and buy the best copy you can, at the cheapest price.

By the way, that particular book has two different printings, one MUCH expanded photographically and textually than the other.
