MG TD TF 1500 - OT Flipping Bangers No No
I was watching Flipping Bangers tonight. I actually find the show ok. In tonight's show, they were fixing up a Hungarian Skoda. The car had not been run in about two years.
The guys get the car back in the shop, put it up on the rack, and drain the fuel tank. So far, ok, but they leave the car draining fuel into a bucket on the floor and leave the shop overnight. Leaving any gas (even old gas) in an open bucket in a closed garage is a recipe for disaster. Gasoline is 4 times heavier than air, which means the fumes hug the floor. A gallon of gas has the explosive potential of 14 sticks of dynamite. Any spark or heat source would have totally destroyed that garage. |

Couldn't agree more. Madness. Dave H |

That scenario is my #1 concern for fire/disaster. I don't even like the idea of parking my cars & snow blower in the garage because my boiler and water heater are tucked away in it. They are both elevated 18" above the floor just because of this hazard, the building code says so. |

Hungarian Skoda? I haven't seen the show, but with my wife being Czech, I'm pretty sure the Skoda is a Czech car. Maybe it was located in Hungary? But the Skoda was made in Czechoslovakia. Interestingly, 'skoda' means 'too bad' or 'it's a shame' in Czech. Seriously. It's what one might exclaim after seeing someone spill a container of food on the floor... "Aww, skoda!" (pronounced shko-da). But it was the family name of the maker, so it became the car brand. |

Kevin. You are correct. I thought they said Hungary, but it is a Czechoslovakia car. Interesting story. They have been in business since 1894, and are still producing cars today. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%A0koda_Auto |

Yes, Bruce, I believe they are a division within the Volkswagen group. |
