MG TD TF 1500 - OT What I did this summer

We went back to our home in Wisconsin for the summer, so the TD restoration in California was given a short rest.

But that does not mean I don't have a project. I have a one-car shop in Wisconsin. This is my summer project.

Pictures are before and after restoration.

This is a Tote Gote model B. They were built from 1958 to 1970 in Utah. This one is probably a 1962 3hp Briggs & Stratton motor. Super low gearing.

Sheesh Bruce - good job. Did you ensure that the paint had runs in it for recycling purposes ?? I googled it! Enjoy the 5mph.

I remember the Tote Gote! There were a lot of mini-bike manufacturers back in the 60's and 70's. Rode a number of them....they were all fun to ride. The Tote didn't have a high top speed....but then again, most stock mini-bikes only got up to 15-20 MPH anyway....downhill!

John. You bring up a great point. Here is a description of how the factory originally painted the Tote Gote.

"Tote Gotes were painted with a low pressure flow of paint. The frames were placed over a large tub of paint with hoses on either side. The paint was pumped through the hoses while workers directed the flow of paint over the frame. Excess paint ran off the bottom and back into the tub. The frames were rotated while drying to minimize runs. Most were red, fewer yellow, and some green "

Nice variation! A colleague of mine is currently into tractor restoration. Just finished a Massey Ferguson TE20 (late 40's). More fun than his classic cars he reckons.

Oh, my brother and I do tractors also. Here is one we are working on. It is a 1920 Cleatrac Model F.

A 4 cylinder flathead with one gear and forward/reverse. Motor was in reasonably good shape. we had to unstuck one piston. Getting it timed with a magneto is interesting. It also has only a hand crank, and I am good for about 4 cranks turning over that 4 cyl.
