MG TD TF 1500 - Parts Suppliers

I am very familiar with Moss due to my long term ownership of a B and Big Healey. Being new to the T world I see that there are other suppliers like Abingdon Spares. Are there other suppliers, or is the list on the http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/mgtd/mgtd_links.htm quite exhaustive. Right now I need a couple of rubber bits, and know from my B experience that these can be awful in quality. Do Moss and Abingdon sell the same rubber parts or is one better for these bits?

Main line is the TC, but he has links to almost anything you might need.

I have had good luck with Brown and Gammons for rubber parts, although it is on the other side of the pond.

We make the trunnion and fulcrum pin seals in good quality rubber. We also do the rocker cover and side cover rubber seals.

For many years all of the suspension rubber was garbage. I got some swivel seals from Abindgon a few years back that had a part # molded in - something like ACGxxxx, those have held up fine. MGB heavy duty A-arm bushings have worked well for me. Now there are polyurethane and other options out there. The only body rubber problems from Moss or anyone has been the bonnet to cowl rubber, which has the wrong cross section and is too narrow, which makes it really difficult to get the bonnet to cowl gap correct. I got the correct contour part from AngloParts. The steering rack gaiters have always been a problem, not sure who has decent ones now. Definitely go for the good quality swivel pin seals, as changing the lower one requires pulling the drum/back plate, and major disassembly. Abingdon now lists "premium quality, made in Europe" seals. Wonder if those are Declan's? Good luck! George

Tom Lange has some excellent parts and he stands behind everything he sells.

Call ASL & Moss and ask them if their rubber parts have been improved. I supply improved engine steady bushings for TD / TF.

I give a big thumbs up to "The Frame Up". Doug has always answered my questions on parts.

My speedometer cable drive on the transmission let oil bypass and worked it's way up the cable housing to the speedometer, I bought a modified one from Doug with the internal seal and it is a beautiful piece of work. The mod is a little complicated to do. Their very efficient, easy to deal with and a speedy mail out. I would recommend them highly. PJ

I found a little company years ago when I restored my first TC, OOPS1947 at metalfan dot com, At the time they had NOS still in boxes, maybe still do. They don't advertise or do EBAY I don't think. Bought several XPAG motors & heads, excellent work. TD's, I think they are still rebuilding & restoring parts & steering racks with original parts. I've also used B & G in years past with good results but nowadays most everything is reproduction I hear but I don't know the origin. I gave up on Moss a long time ago and chrome work is garbage. Sam
