MG TD TF 1500 - Pedal and Clutch Width
I posted a picture of my installation of the brake and clutch pedal excluder boot on a TD facebook page. A few folks commented that my clutch seems farther over than theirs. I show 3 3/4" between the pedal shafts. That looks normal to me. ![]() |

Bruce, I will get energetic in the next couple of days and get a measurement of my LHD TD, but on first look they are too wide. I am pretty sure the pedal ends should be vertical and parallel. Your clutch is at an angle to the brake and not vertical and parallel. |

Bruce. You’ve driven the car for years. Was it comfortable for you? If yes, then I wouldn’t be concerned about it. |

Here is my pedal arms. The width looks like Bruce's but my ends do look more straight. Not sure how these could even be bent as they are cast. ![]() |

I don't have any inclination to change them if they are incorrect. As Bill said, I have driven it this way for 48 years, so it is not an issue. Just trying to identify if it was built that way or modified. I think, that without the pedals on, it looks a lot wider. |

where do you rest your clutch foot? On my RHD TF I bent the pedals many years ago for clearance against the tunnel Ray TF 2884 |

Chris both of yours also look bent to me. I’ll be out to where my cars are stored in the next few days. I’ll look closer and take measurements. |

Bruce, Bit of gymnastics but I measured mine today. LHD TD is 3 ½" RHD TF is 3 ⅛" As you say its your car and you are comfortable with it, but it looks like the pedal rubber will be very close to metal work, and even worse if you put the interior panel in. Regards |

For what it's worth ,on my LHD 1951 TD the measurement from center of rubber pad on the brake to the center of the pad on the clutch is approximately 4 inches. The edge of the rubber clutch pad to the painted metal panel on the left is 2 inches. |

Bruce, I reckon yours look exactly the same configuration as those in Chris Couper's "Original TF" photofile.. Stick with what you're used to! John. |
