MG TD TF 1500 - Pedal Excluder
For the pedal excluder. Should there be washers under the screws, or do they just snug to the rubber. (Not my picture, taken from the archives) Also, should the footwell be put in first or does it fit ontop of the excluder? ![]() |

for Brake Rebuild from Larry Shoer Toward the end Larry talks about the excluder : Rubber fume excluder over pedals in cockpit 1. Check that holes in rubber boot line up with holes in metal top plate, through which screws will go. If not, punch new holes. 2. Remove horizontal pedal extension (if installed) 3. Put electrical tape over sharp top edges of vertical pedal posts 4. Smear silicone grease inside boot and on vertical pedal posts 5. Carefully stretch rubber boot over posts 6. Secure metal plate with screws on top of boot 7. I repositioned pedal extender on one pedal and did not install extender on another pedal to give my feet more room to work the pedals Bud |

Here’s a photo of how a UK MGCC T Register did it on a RHD TD. Note it’s quite difficult to install on a RHD car because of the bulge in the gearbox cover - much easier on LHD cars. We think there never was a RHD version of the fume excluder. David ![]() |

Floorboard washers under the two flat head screws that hold down the rubber gasket. Wood floorboards sit on top of the rubber and screws, and are secured as usual. Accordion fume excluder fits over pedals and is secured to the floorboard by a rectangular retainer screwed through the excluder and into the floorboard. Footwell sits in the cutout in the floorboard after the gearbox cover is attached (but before the carpet is installed.). Rectangular pad for footwell sat into place after carpet is installed.
You may choose to not screw the footwell to the floorboard. Makes checking and adding brake fluid easier. If the floorboard is cut correctly, then the footwell will stay in place without screws. Lonnie TF7211 |

Most appreciate the answers. Both on the pedal rubber (what is the correct name for that thick rubber piece?) and for the excluder pictures. In the picture I posted, it appears the thick rubber is under the footwell panel. Does that indicate the footwell should be put in after that rubber pad is down or does it slide under the footwell panel edge? Lonnie. So the screws go through the oddly shaped big washers that came in the floor kit, through the wood and into the pedal box nuts. Got it. |

Fitting the excluder over the pedals is a chore. Used KY jelly for lubrication. Just smile when checking out of the pharmacy. |

When I took the KY Jelly to the garage the wife followed shortly after. It was time expired. Peter |
