MG TD TF 1500 - Perhaps another source for door latches

This URL was given to me on a machining site. These latches are for Cobra's but they sure look like TD' ones and the set is $100 less than Moss, if they fit?

The only difference I see is that they are not double catch, otherwise the same as original.

Strangely the ones I have are single catch. I did not realize they (could/should) be double catch.

I have to go look at my spare latch drawer.

"Strangely the ones I have are single catch."
I purchased our TD in 1974 and the door latches only have the single catch (hole). We have been driving the car since that time (with a 5 year time out to restore the car) and have never had any trouble with the doors flying open. Perhaps I am living on borrowed time, but I just wanted to mention the fact that the single catch has been around for many, many years. Cheers - Dave

Thanks Dave.
Then I wont go hunting for them
I checked my other set and they were single also.

That's whats on this (Factory Five kit). They don't use the flat mounting plate..just the catch. I have the plates from it out in the shop.

I am about to mount my doors and need new catches. Are the ones you show in the link Jim B usable on the TD door? Of so, I will order a pair.

I think they are exactly the same as TD/TF catches. They are technically double catch, the first catch is just a notch in the striker wedge, the second catch is the hole. The door latch and wedge is the same as TC but the wedge mounting plate is different.
Max Irvine

From what I can see on the web site they are double catch. The hole is where they are suppose to lock then there is a ledge near the bottom which is the second catch.

Check if they are die cast or sand cast, if sand cast I would not use them.
Rod Brayshaw

They have the birds beak on them. Price is nice also. Wonder if the strikers are Brass? PJ
