MG TD TF 1500 - Plastic polish

I need a recommendation for a polish for black plastic. For the regulator housing and starter and choke knobs.
TIA

The best results come from buffing them though in some cases that isn't practical. I did mine before I installed them. Some of the ignition switch bodies I've restored come up like new. I'd also be interested in a review of the dozens of products out there, just to add a bit more gleam and protection. Cheers

I have a post of restoring the bakelite knobs.

The thread was titled: "Restoring the bakelite - TF 1414" if you search the archives.

I'd post the link directly but there always seems to be a problem doing that.

I have found that the 3M Plastic Polish to be the best.

I suggest Pensbury Manor's Great Knobs.

The plastic (Bakelite) on my TF regulator cover looked very sad. I read a recommendation to use toothpaste and course cloth...
The shine did not last that long but at least it smelt fresh!

Mort,

Peter is on the right track with regard to bringing the surface of the Bakelite
back to its former glory.

Buffing with the use of the Green coloured Buffing Soap on a soft cotton buffing mop, will do the best job and the shine will last for years.
(the Green Buffing Soap is usually used for buffing brass).

Keep excessive pressure off any lettering or numbering.

Started using this stuff on weathered fiberglass years ago and was impressed with the results. It cleans and leaves a film of protectant on the surface of various materials. PJ
