MG TD TF 1500 - por-15 silver exhaust manifold coating
Has anyone ever used this product years ago to coat their manifold and how did it hold up? I bought a 1/2 pint this Spring and thought about doing the TC. How do you cure it and at what temp. I can imagine it to be a bloody mess before it cures. TIA Sam |

Hi Sam. I use it on both the B and the TD. Not as durable as jet coating, but it holds up good. Some areas will develop flakes, but can be easily touched up with a brush. Any time I have to take the carbs off, I will touch up the exhaust manifold. A can goes a long way. |

Thanks Bruce for your feedback. Did you cure the POR before putting it on or did you run the car to cure it. Sam |

As long as you are going through the trouble of doing it, I would think going the jet hot, or ceramic route would be a better, proven method. Steve |

Steve, I'd say the cost is probably important to many owners, including me. The POR 15 is under $20 and the Jet Coat is probably over $100 it makes economic sense to consider the POR 15. If it lasts and is easily touched up and appearance is my main concern I would go the POR 15 route. Tim PS Pet peeve. In general, a manifold has one intake and more than one outlet. A header has more than one inlet and one outlet. There, I feel better. |

Sam, I don't have a good shot of my manifold, but here's the best I could do. I used a 2000 degree paint and it has held up very well. I forgot the brand, but I think I got it from Summit racing, not positive though. The photo was taken two years ago and it looks the same today. PJ![]() |
