MG TD TF 1500 - Possible History On My Car

Found out yesterday from the third owner back that my car came from California some 20+ years ago by a fellow who worked at the Saint Josephs Hospital in Sedona Ca. and moved jobs to the the University Hospital in Birmingham Al. Little bits and pieces, but very welcome. Supposedly the sticker on the windshield was a physicians parking permit. Nice! PJ

It's great to find things that show provenance. It makes owning an antique that much more interesting.

Well so you don't go down a rat hole, Sedona is in AZ.

Saint Joseph's Hospital was actually in Eureka, Humbolt County, CA that is just north of Sonoma County (sight of this years GoF West), which are in Northern California above San Francisco.

There is also a SJH Orange (which seems to be where the bulk of the institution moved to.)

So you might want to concentrate on Eureka verses Sedona in your history searching.

OOps, How about Sonoma? Amazing how one letter in a word can make you travel so far! Grin. Were talking many years ago, so I guess the new one was built sometime after that, not sure. I know nothing about California, with the exception of two trips through the state. PJ

Good grief, Just got word it was in Stockton Ca, not Sonoma! I guess I need new glasses. Oh well, what else is new. PJ
Paul S Jennings

Hooray, Paul. When was it that you first put that image up the BB? How did you happen to contact this source? Bud
Bud Krueger

Stockton is just south of Sacramento and the SJH does seem to still exist there.

For your info the Stockton MG dealer in the early 50's was Crown Motor Company on 1847 North Wilson Way.

Not sure if that was where the car was purchased new?

Christopher Couper

Just a couple days ago Bud. I posted that before, about a year or two back, not sure, but had no leads to it's source. Found out what little info I have now a couple days ago, almost by accident when speaking to another fellow on another forum. Hopefully more to come. PJ

Chris, Thank you so much for that bit of information. Gives me another avenue to pursue. PJ
Paul S Jennings

It appears the building is still there.
1847 N. Wilson Way, Stockton, Ca

Chris, Does this building look familiar? It surly lends itself to a 1950s style. Have you seen it before? New photos would be terrific. PJ

I found a photo in front of the Crown Motors building with a lady beside a new MGA, The problem is, I can't download or even save the photo. Here's the link, hopefully someone has the ability to save the pic. Scroll way down to 1847 Wilson Way! PJ

Thank you very much Jasper! There is a strong possibility that's where my 55 TF was bought in 1955. I totally appreciate your efforts in capturing that photo! Wow! PJ

Now Michigan has come into the picture due to owner attending Medical school there. More questions need answering, but the chase is interesting! PJ

here is the building

I do not know what the date of your photograph of 1847 N Wilson Way is, Christopher, but a Google Street view shows the building currently there essentially unchanged, but vacant, and enclosed by a chain link fence. The sign marquee is the dead give away. It is amazing to visit the location of old dealerships with Google Street View and see if the buildings are still in place. Also the BMC/British Leyland dealer from about 1972 to at least 1982 was Norman Nock Imported Cars a few blocks away at 2060 N Wilson Way which appears to be still operating as British Cars Specialties, an independent repair facility.
