MG TD TF 1500 - Quiz of the day

On my 50 TD, I found that the left front shock center bolt goes front to back. The right front shock center bold goes back to front.

The left leaf spring clip bolt goes outside to in, where as the right spring goes inside to out.

I know the answer and am sure a lot of others do also, but figured it might catch someone.

It obviously has something to do with which way the left/right wheels spin! (Ha, ha)?

There are no left and right assemblies. They are identical, likely done so to reduce manufacturing costs.

It depended on whether the worker on the assembly line was right or left handed.

Bill is the correct, although Jim could also be correct.

These parts are interchangable, so you had an assembly table and as the parts came through, the bolts went in one way.

For the springs it's easy as one side has a squared hole. In the shocks, the bolt can go either way.

Well, looks like I was incorrect, at lease on my car. Springs are original according to the dates on them. When I installed the springs, I noted the bolts on both sides go the same. Either bold head out or bolt head in. Depending on what side you put the spring pack on.

On the frame that Bill Chaser has that I have been using for bolt sizes, they go in on one side and out on the other.

Only difference is the way the clip is attached.
