MG TD TF 1500 - Radiator drain tube
Can someone post a picture of the correct bend for the TD radiator drain pipe, and how it is positioned? I have two tubes. I think the black one is an original and the brass a homemade one, but neither may be original. ![]() ![]() |

Hello Bruce,
The black pipe pictured is very close to the correct shape, but it is incorrectly located. It should be vertical below the tap and pass through the U-section of the rack mounting. You have to feed it through the rack mounting bracket, then attach to the tap. The drain pipe is the same as used on YA/YT - same part number in original documents. I have a very original YT, and they are the same. You will find a drawing of the pipe on the International MG Y-Type Register website that you can print at full size to get the correct shape (or close enough to get almost there). https://www.mg-cars.org.uk/imgytr/parts.shtml Safety Fast Tony Slattery The Classic Workshop Black Mountain Australia |

From the IMGYTR website. Cheers Tony ![]() |

Here's a picture of an original drainpipe and valve. The pipe's not routed through the rack mounting bracket so it may not be installed correctly. Joe ![]() |

Perfect. Thanks, both of you. |

Chris. That helps. It gives me the angles to bend it to. |
