MG TD TF 1500 - Rear core plug

With the engine dismantled and the core plug subject being reviewed. Has any thoughts ever been given to replacing the rear core plug with a plate screwed to the rim thus replacing it more convenient if indeed ever necessary?
JK Mazgaj

If you replace it with one from Tom Lange (mgtrepair.net) you will never have to do it again in your lifetime.

A removable section of toe board does the job. did it on my car many years ago and on a mates weeks ago.
It also gives clearance when removing the engine leaving the box in place
forgot to rotate first pic

I must confess being aware of both possibilities my leaning initially was for a removable section which provided a duel purpose. However if "on the road" when the plug needs attention not ideal. I suppose the brass ones as well would give belt and braces.

five minutes to remove the section, four 6mm Allen cap screws, two bulkhead screws and one gearbox cover bolt and it just slips out

I got the impression that the engine is dismantled! By any means, replace the core plug with one of the brass ones from Tom Lang, seal it good and forget it and you should never have to fool with it again. Don't use a steel plug, only Brass! PJ
