Tom only took up the stronger half shafts. Not the gear changes.

Well, I thought I needed a new/rebuilt rear axle assembly. Just for the exercise, I pumped a lot of grease into the rear u joint and the noise seemed to go away. I guess I'll just change the u joints and see how it sounds. The joints might be 70 years old. I know mine are and get a little creaky from time to time.
