MG TD TF 1500 - Rear Tub, sub-frame and Chassis bolts
Can someone please tell me the size etc of the bolts which hold the Rear Bottom Rail to the sub-frame (as per arrow on attached photo taken from Dave Braun's website). I take it is countersunk under the inner guard. As my Rear Bottom Rail was largely rotten away when I got my TD (some 40 yrs ago), I also need information (size, etc) on the vertical bolts which hold the tub (Rear bottom rail) to Chassis. These bolts must be very close to the above horizontal bolts. I have been unable to find any photos of the setup of these bolts. cheers Stuart ![]() |

Even though I am risking hate mail I must admit my bolts are now M8 stainless. Jan T |

That's it Jan.. You're now off the Xmas card list! Actually I'd be keen to know the answer to this question as my rear bolts & nuts are also missing. Cheers Peter TD 5801 |

Bud, I had already been through the Abingdon Spares list and could not see a description fitting the location of the bolts I am after. Gordon's list doesn't go into enough detail to determine the correct Diameter and length. Don, thank you, I expected the bolts to be BSF thread (as are all body bolts). When I am next working on the TD, I will measure thickness of timber to determine length of the bolts needed. Stuart |

At restoration teardown. Would appear to be untouched from factory. Not what I would have expected. George

I remember cleaning up those original bolts as they were in good condition, just a film of rust on them and sprayed them with galvanizing compound. I won't swear to it but I believe they are 5/16 BSF about 3 inches long, maybe 4 inches. PJ |
