MG TD TF 1500 - replacement Moss steering rack - anybody bought?

Just noticed Moss is offering an allnew dropin steering rack replacement.

Yes. I bought an ex USA car and changed it from LHD to RHD using an all new rack like on the Moss website, though I didn't buy it from them. It dropped straight in with no issues at all. Sealed for life with no lubrication point so you won't have to worry about how to squirt oil into it.

Not me directly, but a fellow club member who has a beautifully restored Mark II TD installed one last fall. At a recent event he showed me the new rack and raved about how easy and precise the steering is now. He's somewhat of a perfectionist so coming from him that's an endorsement.

The new drop-in steering racks are perfect. I have them in my TD as well.

I purchased one a couple years ago and it bolted right up. The only thing I dislike about it is the boot on the pinion shaft. It doesn't fit well and works off. The skirt of the boot is not wide enough and I worry it could let water get in the unit. I have thought about trying a clamp but don't think there is enough material to grab onto. Did anyone else find this an issue?

I did mine at the end of last season. Really a easy job. Likewise the steering is amazing. You also do not need to fiddle with oil. It is a lifetime grease job. They are made by the same supplier that builds them for BMW.
