MG TD TF 1500 - Replacement muffler for TF 1500 in Australia

Recently my TF 1500 has developed annoying and ominous rattles at fast idle after starting, or at low revs when parking. I have identified these noises as emanating from the slowly decaying innards of the muffler. At this stage the pipes at both ends seem OK, so I am looking at just replacing the muffler.
My question is should I go to one of the many local exhaust 'specialists' and have them make something up, or should I import a (dependable) Moss product?
Being sure of retaining that great MG sound is more important the cost.
Any suggestions?

Gday John, if originality is not important you could try Performance Exhausts in Vermont. They seem to understand what we want.

Sounds like I might be in same market for one too... current pipe might be stainless (can't see any rust anywhere) but the insides ain't sounding as healthy as before.

I have a cherry bomb resinator style "muffler" on my TF. The car belonged to my grandfather before me and that's what it had on it when he drove it. That originality is more what I'm after rather than stock.

If you just need a muffler, a good muffler shop can help you get something close to what you have without a full replacement of the system. This would be my recommendation for your situation.

Performance Exhaust that Matthew suggested looks like a Class 'A' operation. They list many different kinds of Vehicles that they have worked on.....including this Sharp Looking TC!!

Thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions. I will go to Performance Exhausts next week and see what they can offer.
