MG TD TF 1500 - Rexine for TD Dash
Does anybody know where to buy Rexine for a a new plywood TD dash? And, do you seal/stain the back first or just leave it plain before gluing on the front? TIA...Barry Ryley Neither A/S or Moss have it. |

Hi Barry. Rexine is a thing of the past & hasn't been available for yonks, maybe even for half a century. Everybody uses vinyl these days. I use a water based water proof builder's membrane on my dash. See pic of finished item. Cheers Peter TD 5801 ![]() |

Yes, Rexine was a type of linseed oil cloth made by ICI. A vinyl leathercloth would be a good substitute, if you can find a similar grain and colour, though many are much thicker. Dave H |

Barry - there's lots in the archives. Early TD cars used a Rexine similar to binder's buckram cloth, fine in texture and with a decided warp and weft. Later cars used a material with an impressed leather-like grain, which is mostly what is available today. There is a post about the availability of binder's cloth - search "oil cloth - another thought". If you search for "rexine binder cloth" you also come up with some good information. And of course "Rexine" gives you an overwhelming amount if hits... Tom Lange MGT Repair |

You might check with your local library to see if they still have a vendor who re-binds old books. I have seen many rebound books covered with what appears to be Rexine or a close copy. |

I recently bought rexine/buckram. Check the archives as I fo not have ready access to my purchase info. I do remember I had several enthusiastic sellers. Regards, Tom |
