MG TD TF 1500 - Seal stack for carb bowl
Hi all, I can't understand why SU recommands this stack of fibre/metal/fiber. Why would it be more tight than one (or two) fibre washers ? Any idea ? Laurent. |

As always, pics would be helpful so we can know ,without ambiguity, what one is specifically referring to |

Bill, I think that Laurent is referring to the method used to fix the carb. float bowl to the body. It uses two fiber washers with a metal washer in between them. Laurent, I am not certain but I have a theory as to why this is done. I will hold on to my response until others give their inputs. To understand my idea you need to think of chemistry. John |

Chemistry ! The mistery is growing... I thought the metal washer was acting like a lip, increasing localy the pressure on the fibre washers. In that case it should be smaller OD than the fibre washers. Laurent. |

Well John, no other explanation. So I'm curious about yours. Laurent. |

FWIW - I believe that the fiber-metal-fiber stack was replaced by rubber seal in MGAs. - Lonnie |
