On a TD there are two metal straps which bolt to the top and bottom along with the spare tire carrier. The top requires two long bolts with chrome acorn nuts. You do have to wiggle it around to get everything to fit, and don't forget the rubber strips which go between the metal strap and the tank. (I did :) ) |

I find it helps to start with longer unified bolts. Tighten them and then swap for BSF and Acorn nut. Jim B |

Make sure you get the tank tight against the rubber tank pads. I got my tank and spare wheel carrier all bolted up and looking good and then noticed a space between the tank and pads near the bottom. I believe it would be a good ideal to use bungee straps to hold it in place while putting the metal straps on. Still not sure if I'm going to try to loosen it all up and get a closer fit. The tank doesn't hit the spare tire rack as it is. |

Jim B is 'spot on" with the suggestion to start with longer bolts !!!! Steve |

There is a trick! Problem is I can't remember what it is. But I know it's in the archives somewhere because I had the same issues and posted the trick there 5 years ago. Ed |
